When a rebase happens, the number of units shown goes up or down for everyone proportionally, and each holder's share of the total is unchanged by the adjustment itself. Designs use the mechanism for different reasons — to keep a unit tracking a reference, or to let accrued rewards appear as a growing balance without a claim transaction.
