They rely on urgency, flattery and the fear of missing out — the same levers confidence tricks have used for centuries. The delivery is new; the pattern is not. Learn the pattern and most of them stop working on you.

Guaranteed returns

Any offer that promises a fixed return on a volatile asset is either lying about the return or hiding where the money really comes from. Legitimate platforms describe yield as variable and explain what generates it. A specific, guaranteed percentage — especially a daily one — is the most reliable warning sign in the entire market.

Urgency and countdown timers

Scams need you to act before you check. That is why they come with closing windows, limited allocations and "only for the next hour". A real opportunity survives you sleeping on it. Any pressure to move money immediately is itself the reason not to.

Impersonation

Fake support accounts reply within seconds of you posting a problem publicly. Cloned websites sit one character away from the real domain. Videos of well-known figures announcing a giveaway are edited or synthetic. Nobody credible will ever ask you to send crypto in order to receive more crypto back — that specific promise is a scam with no exceptions.

Withdrawal walls

A common pattern: an unfamiliar platform shows your balance rising nicely, and then withdrawal requires a "tax", an "unlock fee" or one more deposit to reach a tier. The balance was always just numbers on a page. Test any new platform with a small deposit and an immediate withdrawal before it ever holds a meaningful amount.

Wallet-draining approvals

Some attacks never ask for your seed phrase at all. Instead a site asks you to sign a token approval that lets a contract move your assets whenever it likes. Read what your wallet is asking you to sign, be suspicious of unlimited approvals, and periodically review and revoke old ones.

The bottom line

Slow down, verify the domain, and never let a stranger set your deadline.
