Exchange Sub-Account

Trading & Markets

An exchange sub-account is a segregated trading account under one master login, used to isolate strategies, API keys and risk.

Definition

An exchange sub-account is a separate trading account created under a single verified master account, with its own balances, positions, API keys and permissions. Traders use sub-accounts to isolate strategies, so that the margin and liquidation risk of one book does not touch another, to give a team member or an automated bot restricted access without handing over the main login, and to keep clean records for accounting. Transfers between sub-accounts and the master are usually internal ledger movements rather than on-chain transactions, so they settle instantly and without network fees. Note that identity verification, aggregate limits and legal responsibility normally sit with the master account, and a compromise of the master can expose everything beneath it.
