Deposit Address
Trading & MarketsA deposit address is the per-user blockchain address an exchange gives you to fund your account, and why the asset and network must match.
Definition
A deposit address is the blockchain address an exchange assigns to your account so that funds sent from an outside wallet are credited to your trading balance. It is generated per user and often per asset or per network, and it usually stays valid for repeated use, though some platforms rotate it. Sending the wrong asset, or the right asset over the wrong network, can make funds unrecoverable, because the receiving address may not exist or may not be controlled by the exchange on that chain. Always copy the address rather than typing it, verify the first and last characters after pasting, and send a small test amount when depositing to a new address for the first time.
