Memo / Destination Tag

A memo, also called a destination tag on some networks, is a short code you must include alongside the deposit address on chains where an exchange holds many users behind a single shared address. The address tells the network where the funds go; the memo tells the exchange which customer account to credit. Networks such as XRP, Stellar, Cosmos and TON commonly use this pattern. Depositing without the memo, or with a memo copied from another account, usually means the transaction confirms on chain but is not credited automatically, and recovery depends on a manual support process that may take time or may not be possible. Copy both fields from the deposit screen every time, and never reuse an old memo.
