Network Selection
Trading & MarketsNetwork selection is choosing which blockchain a deposit or withdrawal uses when a token exists on several chains, and why both sides must match.
Definition
Network selection, sometimes shown as chain selection, is the step where you choose which blockchain a deposit or withdrawal travels over when the same token exists on several chains. A stablecoin, for example, may be issued natively on Ethereum, Tron, Solana and multiple layer-2 networks; each version is a separate token contract even though the ticker looks identical. The sending and receiving side must agree on the network, otherwise funds arrive on a chain the recipient does not support and recovery may require manual intervention or be impossible. Networks also differ in fee and speed, which is why platforms show a different withdrawal fee per option. Check the network label on both screens before confirming any transfer.
